THE BASSIC MARTIAL TECHNIQUE (TT)

Unlike most martial arts, Muay Thai has developed a unique but basic form of block and defense against a variety of offensive techniques. Many martial art systems have over the years begun to adapt much of the Thai fighting system, many calling it their own. Many new fighting arts have contributed much of the martial arts of Thailand including Muay Thai to their newly developed system...

Basically, there are three different types of punches in Muay Thai which can be directed in a horizontally circular, horizontally linear, or vertically circular fashion. The circular punches can be directed in either narrow or wide arcs. The Thai style punches can be compared with that of western boxing, however, there are no Jab maneuvers in Muay Thai because they are believed to be less effective than the Cross, Hook, or Swing.
Basic Stance: with left or right foot forward, head lowered and hands clear of face to give better vision of opponent. Hands are not brought close to face as in western boxing, but are slightly set forward and away from the body.

Knees are best delivered while grabbing the opponent and pulling the target area towards the striking instrument, however, they can be delivered without grabbing. Jumping into the air while delivering a knee strike can add power to the technique. Standing on tip-toes or the ball of one's foot while delivering a knee strike with the other leg is unique to this art.
It is believed that doing so adds power to the technique and increases the reach of the attacking leg. Both knees can strike straight upwards simultaneously towards the chest, head, shoulders, or solar plexus of the opponent and such a technique is called the double knee.
The fighter grabs his opponent by the head and prepares himself to attack. AThe technique is completed as the fighter launches his self forward and attacks his opponent with a jumping right knee strike aimed at the chest or head. BThe fighter prepares his self to attack his opponent with a left knee strike, the left knee is raised and brought from the outside in a circular motion.. . A

,,,The technique is completed as the fighter slams his left knee inwards to strike the opponents upper or lower right ribs. BWith a twist of the hip, and using the point of the knee, the fighter delivers a spearing left knee strike to his opponents lower right ribsWith a twist of the hip, and using the point of the knee, the fighter delivers a spearing left knee strike to his opponents upper outside right thigh.

Using the point of the knee, the fighter delivers a spearing left knee strike to his opponents upper front right thigh.
Using the point of the knee, the fighter delivers a raising left knee strike to his opponents upper inside right thigh.
Every knee strike is delivered with the twisting of the hips and the turning of the waist. There is an elevating maneuver in which one leg is used to step upon one of the opponent's thighs acting as the elevating support while the other leg executes a knee. Sometimes, one hand is used for grabbing the opponent's neck or shoulder so that balance is maintained during execution.

The knee is capable of striking from many angles and various directions. It can be directed in a diagonally circular, diagonally linear, horizontally circular, horizontally linear, vertically downwards, or vertically upwards fashion. The areas above and below the knee cap as well as the insides of the knee are constantly used for striking the opponent. The inside of the knee can be used to swing in an upward circular motion clockwise or counter-clockwise towards the body's centerline....
The knee strike is aimed at the stomach of the opponent, using the knee as a spear, while the fighter defends his head with his gloves.
This raising knee strike aimed at the opponents stomach and used while the fighter leans backwards and a way from a counter strike. In a clinch, the fighter attacks his opponent with a raising knee strike to his solar plexus, by pulling him on to the knee.

The elbow is capable of striking from many angles and various directions. It can be directed in a horizontally left, horizontally right, vertically downwards, vertically upwards, diagonally downwards from the top right to bottom left, diagonally downwards from top left to bottom right, diagonally upwards from bottom left to top right using the left elbow, and bottom right to top left using the right elbow fashion.
It can strike opponents coming in from behind in three different angles. The elbow is capable of swinging in a downward  circular motion clockwise and even counter-clockwise towards the body's centerline.  Jumping into the air can add power to this technique as well as the  other downward moving elbow attacks. It can strike out while the body is facing  side wards to the opponent and there is a spinning elbow attack which is used while turning towards the other person. Both elbows can strike straight downwards simultaneously towards the head or shoulders of the opponent and such  a technique is called the Double elbow.

A right elbow strike aimed at the left temple or jaw of the opponent.Grabbing the opponent around the neck and preparing to strike with an elbow. AThe technique is completed with a downward strike aimed at the shoulder or head of the opponent. B
The main target is the head of the opponent instead of the body so as to avoid being hit by a knee strike, however,  the body can become a target. Unlike most other martial arts, the shoulder of  the attacking arm is usually lifted in front of the face in order to protect the throat,  jaw, and cheek bone while the other arm is raised in a defensive position. Remember that every elbow strike is delivered with the twisting of the hips and the turning of the waist.

In a clinch, the fighter in the blue pulls down his opponents left arm and then while still holding the arm, counter strikes with a cutting right elbow strike of his own to the opponents jaw.

The low  straight -push - thrust and roundhouse kicks are exceptions to this rule. There are many flying kicks in Viet Nam Martial Art, however, they are not used as often as the other kicks because such maneuvers places the element of risk to the Muay Thai fighter in terms of balance especially when one's opponent is on his or her best guard.

The fighter executes a low right kick using the shin bone aimed at the back of the thighs of the opponents leg.
While in a clinch the fighter executes a low right kick using the shin bone aimed at the upper inside thigh of the opponents left leg.As the opponent steps forward and attempts a right punch, the fighter launches a left low kick using the shin bone aimed at the upper inside thigh of the opponents left leg.

THE BASSIC MARTIAL TECHNIQUE

Basically, there are only two types of kicks in Martial Art which are the push - straight - thrust kick and the round house kick. The push -straight and thrust kick is usually directed in a linear fashion and often used as a defensive maneuver while the round kick is usually directed in a circular fashion and often used as an offensive maneuver.
